Privacy Policy — Nawa

Nawa is a prayer-companion app developed by Apption ("we," "us"). This policy explains what data the app uses, why, and — just as importantly — what it does not do with your information.

The short version

• Nawa has no user accounts, no login, and no cloud sync. Everything you enter or log stays on your device.
• We do not use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs of any kind.
• We do not sell or share your data with anyone, because we don't collect it on any server in the first place — there is no server that holds your personal data.

What the app stores, and where

Nawa stores the following entirely in a local database on your device (never transmitted to us or anyone else):

• Your name and any profile details you choose to enter
• Your daily prayer log (which prayers you've marked as prayed, and how)
• Your Quran-reading log (which days you've read Quran)
• App preferences — language, notification timing, calculation method, and similar settings

You can permanently erase all of this at any time using the "Delete all data" option in Settings, which wipes it immediately and locally — there is nothing on our end to separately delete, because we never had a copy.

Location

Nawa asks for location access to calculate accurate prayer times and the Qibla direction for where you are. This calculation happens entirely on your device — your coordinates are not sent to us or to any prayer-times server.

To show you a readable place name (e.g. your city), the app performs reverse geocoding using your device's own operating system geocoding service. On Android, this is provided by the device/Google Play services, governed by Google's own privacy policy, not ours — we do not operate or see the results of this lookup ourselves.

You can deny location access entirely; the app will still work, using default/manually selected settings instead.

Quran content

The Quran reader fetches Arabic text, translations, and page images from two free, public sources: the AlQuran Cloud API (api.alquran.cloud) and the Quran Foundation Content API (quran.com). These requests ask for scripture content only (e.g. "give me Surah 36") — they do not include your name, location, or any other personal data. Quran text and translations are cached on your device afterward so the app works offline.

Notifications and the Adhan alarm

Prayer-time reminders and the Adhan alarm are scheduled entirely on your device using Android's own notification and alarm systems. No reminder or alarm data is sent anywhere.

Permissions this app requests, and why

• Location — prayer time and Qibla calculation (see above).
• Notifications — prayer reminders and daily check-ins.
• Alarms & reminders (exact alarms) — the Adhan-alarm feature plays the full call to prayer at the exact prayer time, functioning as a genuine alarm clock (including through silent mode), which requires this permission the same way any alarm-clock app does.
• Internet — fetching Quran content (see above) only; every other feature works fully offline.

Children

Nawa is a general-audience app, not designed specifically for children — but we recognize that children (for example, those learning to pray) may use it too, sometimes alongside a parent. Nawa carries no advertising of any kind, so there is no behavioral advertising to children to worry about. It also collects no data that would require special handling under children's privacy laws, since nothing about any user — child or adult — is collected off-device to begin with; everything stays in a local database on the device itself.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
